Evan Dowd
Director/Solicitor
Evan grew up in Leeton in the Riverina region of NSW. His father Michael Dowd was a lawyer and then a Magistrate.
Evan graduated from the University of Sydney and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999. During the past 22 years he has worked with a major litigation firm in Sydney, then travelled and worked in the United Kingdom for four years, before coming to settle and practice in Bathurst in 2004.
He is married to Louisa and they have four children. His interests include his family, his farm and sport.
Since being Bathurst based, Evan served as President of the Central West Law Society for two years from 2012 to 2014. He is on the Board of Directors for Glenray Industries in Bathurst. Glenray Industries is a not for profit organisation, which supports people with disabilities through employment, lifestyle and learning services, accommodation and respite support.
Evan also volunteers his time assisting local high school students with their legal studies and has a strong sense of social justice.
Evan is an Accredited Specialist in Criminal law. He completed the Evidence and Ethics Bar Examinations and has specialist knowledge of the Criminal law, coupled with superior advocacy skills. He has worked in the capacity of both Prosecuting and Defending lawyer.
Evan’s practice in law has been broad. Evan has vast knowledge and experience in Property & Conveyancing, Criminal, Civil litigation, Family law and Wills & Estate matters.
Louisa Hennessy
Solicitor
Louisa graduated from the University of Sydney and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999. Louisa initially worked for and with barristers including one later to become a Justice of the High Court of Australia. She then went on to work at international Sydney law firm Allen Allen & Hemsley and then to the Crown Solicitors Office. In 2000 Louisa moved to the United Kingdom where she remained for four years. She worked on major commercial litigation at large law firm Denton Wilde Sapte solicitors in London, and also as a solicitor for the Treasury Solicitor in London, in Torts and Immigration law.
Louisa moved to Bathurst in 2004 and worked in a law firm for five years before finishing work to raise her young family. Whilst in Bathurst she worked on compensation and complex litigation matters.
Louisa’s strong commercial legal background and experience render her eminently suitable to advise upon Alternative Dispute Resolution (avoiding litigation), Medical Negligence, Injury and Compensation law.
Louisa and Evan have offered their services pro bono for many years by helping people in need of legal advice and they particularly enjoy representing people who are in need of assistance but unable to afford a solicitor.
