Evan Dowd
Director/Solicitor
Evan grew up in Leeton in the Riverina region of NSW. His father Michael Dowd was a lawyer and then a Magistrate.
Evan graduated from the University of Sydney and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999. During the past 22 years he has worked with a major litigation firm in Sydney, then travelled and worked in the United Kingdom for four years, before coming to settle and practice in Bathurst in 2004.
He is married to Louisa and they have four children. His interests include his family, his farm and sport.
Since being Bathurst based, Evan served as President of the Central West Law Society for two years from 2012 to 2014. He is on the Board of Directors for Glenray Industries in Bathurst. Glenray Industries is a not for profit organisation, which supports people with disabilities through employment, lifestyle and learning services, accommodation and respite support.
Evan also volunteers his time assisting local high school students with their legal studies and has a strong sense of social justice.
Evan is an Accredited Specialist in Criminal law. He completed the Evidence and Ethics Bar Examinations and has specialist knowledge of the Criminal law, coupled with superior advocacy skills. He has worked in the capacity of both Prosecuting and Defending lawyer.
Evan’s practice in law has been broad. Evan has vast knowledge and experience in Property & Conveyancing, Criminal, Civil litigation, Family law and Wills & Estate matters.
Louisa Hennessy
Solicitor
Louisa graduated from the University of Sydney and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1999. Louisa initially worked for and with barristers including one later to become a Justice of the High Court of Australia. She then went on to work at international Sydney law firm Allen Allen & Hemsley and then to the Crown Solicitors Office. In 2000 Louisa moved to the United Kingdom where she remained for four years. She worked on major commercial litigation at large law firm Denton Wilde Sapte solicitors in London, and also as a solicitor for the Treasury Solicitor in London, in Torts and Immigration law.
Louisa moved to Bathurst in 2004 and worked in a law firm for five years before finishing work to raise her young family. Whilst in Bathurst she worked on compensation and complex litigation matters.
Louisa’s strong commercial legal background and experience render her eminently suitable to advise upon Alternative Dispute Resolution (avoiding litigation), Medical Negligence, Injury and Compensation law.
Louisa and Evan have offered their services pro bono for many years by helping people in need of legal advice and they particularly enjoy representing people who are in need of assistance but unable to afford a solicitor.
Jonty Boshier
Solicitor
Jonty Boshier – Jonty was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2022, having graduated from Macquarie University Sydney, with First Class Honours. Jonty was born and raised in Bathurst and since a young age has been involved in the Bathurst community. He attended the Scots School from 2001 until 2014 where he was elected School Vice-Captain, and Mayor of the Bathurst Youth Council in 2012.
He graduated from Macquarie University Sydney in 2021, having studied a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws. Jonty’s Honours thesis was on the interplay between Australia’s data privacy laws protecting health information, and new wearable technologies. During his university career Jonty developed a passion for the not-for-profit sector and Australia’s university colleges. From 2018 - 2020 Jonty was the President of the National Association of Australian University Colleges, a national charity and the peak representative body for students living on campus. The Association provides academic programs and a national conference to equip Australia’s young leaders to build strong communities.
Jonty continues to assist the Association as an Advisor and Academic Presenter. Jonty holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law. Between 2018 and 2021 he worked as a Law Clerk and Research Assistant for a number of Barristers at Jack Shand Chambers in Sydney. His areas of practice during this time included Medical Negligence, Injury and Compensation Law, and Sports Law. Jonty has a keen interest in all areas of law, in particular litigation, building disputes, property disputes, commercial law, carbon farming, family law, and criminal law. He is a dedicated, compassionate and professional lawyer committed to assisting his clients obtain favourable outcomes.
Alannah Seymour
Paralegal
Alannah is a highly experienced Paralegal having worked in the legal industry since 2008. She has worked in various areas of the law including conveyancing, family law, litigation, and estates.
Alannah's primary role is conveyancing and she is highly skilled in the complex step by step processes of property transactions. She will be involved in every stage of your property sale or purchase, from pre-exchange to settlement. Alannah ensures that time-frames are met and everything runs smoothly from the outset. She is approachable, friendly and highly trained in her work and also understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
Deon Reynolds
Legal Assistant & Receptionist
Deon has worked within the legal industry for 17 years. She was employed as a Personal Assistant to a partner in a busy Sydney law firm for many years and gained vast experience in Conveyancing and within the Accounts Department. Her strong legal background, professionalism and sincere manner make her an asset to our office.
Deon has three children, and she lives with her husband and family on a rural property in Bathurst. She owned and operated her own business for many years, which contributed to her excellent administrative and personal relations skills.Deon enjoys the challenges and interactions of working in a busy legal office and as the first point of contact for new and existing clients, she is an integral member of our team.
